We’re celebrating another leap forward for affordable entertainment in Australian homes with the upcoming launch of our third generation Telstra TV and a new range of Home Broadband plans.
Available from February 26, the new third-generation Telstra TV is sleeker and smaller than its predecessors, and comes bundled with a new Wi-Fi voice-enabled remote that can also turn your TV on and off and control its volume directly.
Telstra TV’s Smart Search function – which brings together several sources of TV shows, movies, documentaries and more to find your favourites wherever they’re streaming – is now even easier to use, thanks to the new voice control button on the Telstra TV remote. Just hold down the microphone button and speak an actor’s name to find movies they’ve starred in, or even just ask your Telstra TV to “chuck on Game of Thrones on Foxtel Now” to switch on your big screen.
We already know that voice control via Google Home for Telstra TV is proving popular, and our customers are streaming more TV and movies, when they can issue commands with voice alone. So, we’re excited to bring the power of direct voice control to all new Telstra TV owners soon.
Another big change is the introduction of Telstra TV Box Office, replacing BigPond Movies and giving you a direct route to the latest new-release films fresh from the cinema with convenient billing to your Telstra account. For a limited time, Home Broadband customers that add a Telstra TV onto their plans ($9/mth for 24months, min cost $1995 inc Essential Internet over 24 months) will get a $125 Telstra TV Box Office credit to use – that’s the equivalent of up to 20 new release movie rentals.
We’ve been delighted by your love of Telstra TV since we launched the original box powered by Roku back in 2015. Since then, we’ve delivered over 1.4 million devices into Aussie homes, bringing together free-to-air and catch-up TV, Foxtel Now, Netflix, Stan, Kayo, and many other on-demand subscription services in one place for you to enjoy.
To coincide with the release of the new Telstra TV, we’ve revamped our Home Broadband with the launch of our new Internet Plans for new or returning customers – including no more lock-in contracts – simply pay out your modem if you leave within 24 months of connecting. From February 26, we’ll simply be offering just two casual plans:
Both plans include unlimited calls to standard local, national and Australian mobile numbers, as well as an allowance to make 500 calls to 13 numbers every month. Our newest Telstra Smart Modem™ Gen 2 with voice and data backup over 4G is included in the monthly plan price for new Telstra customers who stay connected for 24 months – you simply need to pay out the remaining cost of the modem if you leave within 24 months of connecting.
You can then add on personalised services to your Home Broadband plan – like Foxtel Now (from $25/mth) or Kayo (from $25/mth), or a range of accessories and devices like Telstra Smart Wi-Fi™ Boosters (for $5/mth over 24 months, min cost $120).
By simplifying our Home Broadband and offering the ability to add the extras when you want, we’re giving you full control. With a great range of entertainment and technology add-ons, we’re opening up a world of options with the convenience of just one single bill.
