Xiaomi’s MIUI 12 has been steadily rolling out to eligible devices over the past few months and we have a well-maintained dedicated tracker to keep tabs on that.
In the spirit of looking out for the next big thing, this post is dedicated to keeping track of all the early MIUI 13 details we know so far.
MIUI 12 brought with it countless improvements to eligible Xiaomi devices. Some key user-facing changes include a redesigned notification shade and the adoption of a new iOS-inspired Control Center.

Ideally, MIUI 13 is set to further improve these features and bring even more user-centered features. While it is still pretty early to say definitively which features will be coming, here’s what we know about the MIUI 13 update.
Having just unveiled MIUI 12, it turns out that Xiaomi already had an eye on the future, with reports revealing that the Chinese tech giant has an ongoing survey aimed at getting ideas from users on some of the features they would like to see in MIUI 13 update.

The Pocophone F1 (Poco F1) remains a rather popular device among gamers and enthusiasts. And device owners would definitely want to know if the next update to MIUI 13 will make it to this handset.

An app has recently surfaced on the Google Play Store named MIUI 13 Update Download. Please note that this is not an official Xiaomi app and as such, it is fake.
It is also unclear what exactly this app does, seeing as we’re many months away from any form of MIUI 13 build, let alone a download. More on this in our coverage here.

IST 05:40 pm: A new video shared on the MIUI 12 official community on Telegram appears to show off the Power Menu design that’s allegedly part of MIUI 13. It resembles the screenshots we’ve shared above.
IST 05:45 pm: In the second round of the Mi Engineer Face to Face Q&A session, Xiaomi claims that it plans to allow users to develop custom Super Wallpapers. Further, it may even allow users to turn off and on their phone with eye moments and the Health app may also offer ‘blood tests‘. More details here.
IST 05:47 pm: Once again, with the second round of the Mi Engineer Face to Face Q&A, Xiaomi engineers shed some light on MIUI 13 stating that it is under development and MIUI engineers are focusing on optimizing the animations to run more smoothly. More on that here.

IST 03:51 pm: As it turns out, the alleged MIUI 13 ‘Power Menu’ video has been claimed to be “nothing more than a scam“, according to a recent post on the Mi community. Check out the details here.
IST 06:42 pm: A Mi community moderator responded to a user’s query regarding MIUI 13 by stating that “We will find out more about it later next year.” This means that we will have to wait a few months before any official statement pops up.
IST 07:35 pm: While the development of MIUI 13 may still be in its early stages, there are a few new features that we may see arrive alongside the next MIUI version.
It’s expected that we will see new animations, theme designs, improved gestures, native screen recording, enhanced Always on Display, new filters for photos and videos, improved power-saving mode, enhanced notification management, and more.

IST 04:47 pm: New developments suggest that Xiaomi may add a customizable Vibration Intensity feature alongside the MIUI 13 update. Of course, this information does not come via an official statement and is rather a speculation on our part. More details here.

IST 06:11 pm: New developments suggest that Xiaomi has tweaked its MIUI 12 beta update release timeline which affects the release nightly and public beta builds. It’s likely that the changes will affect MIUI 13 builds in the future too. Full story here.
IST 04:20 pm: According to a Mi Community mod, Xiaomi will present MIUI 13 in the second quarter of 2021. However, the info must be taken with a grain of salt since moderators aren’t employees of the company and thus aren’t privy to inside info. Full coverage here.

11:57 am (IST): The Xiaomiui Telegram channel has now given some fresh details about the release date of MIUI 13:
11:04 am (IST): As per a report, the MIUI 13 China ROM is touted to come with multilang support.
Currently, applications are running while showing the contents in a user-selected language, while System UI and some other elements are still in English.
If you have MIUI 12.5 China Beta, you can open it as follows:1. Download Activity Launcher from Google Play.2. Search for “com.android.settings.Settings$LanguageAndInputSettingsActivity” from Activity Launcher.3. In the Language section, add the language as in the video.
11:04 am (IST): A new report has shown that Xiaomi has now kickstarted MIUI 13 development in the Chinese beta testing channel with version 21.7.6. Head here for details.
11:04 am (IST): The Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 is likely to be the first-ever device to run MIUI 13 as per this report. It is also said that MIUI 13 will offer functional plugins from which users can select and install as per their liking, to reduce the bloatware problem.
12:32 am (IST): The first MIUI 13 build seems to be set to release soon but it also now seems unlikely that the Mi Mix 4 will be coming with MIUI 13. This is because Mi Mix 4 might launch too soon – as early as July 16. More on that here.

01:34 pm (IST): A Xiaomi executive has dropped a rather cryptic post on Weibo saying that after a 5-year journey, a new chapter has come. Xiaomi fans have been trying hard to decipher it, with fingers being pointed towards MIUI 13, a new Mi Mix device, or an upgraded Chinese Mi Community.

02:54 pm (IST): There have been plenty of leaks and rumors about an imminent MIUI 13 release but those have now been laid to reset by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun who says that MIUI 13 will be released by the end of the year. Details here.
12:54 pm (IST): While MIUI 13’s release date has been pushed to the end of the year, a new version of MIUI 12.5 is currently in works called MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition. It will be rolling out to flagship devices initially and following is all that you can expect with it:

06:15 pm (IST): Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun had earlier announced that MIUI 13 release date would be late this year. But a Xiaomi executive has now announced that it will be released next year. Head here to know more.
12:15 pm (IST): The MIUI 13/MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition Control Center tweaks the media player notification. It can be expanded to reveal volume and track-seeking controls.

12:48 pm (IST): Xiaomi is testing a new feature called “MIUI Pure Mode” in China. It aims to address the security concerns associated with potentially malicious Android apps. It essentially disables sideloading of APKs.
The feature will be a setting that one can disable or enable as per a user’s needs. A release date wasn’t given out but it will likely be making its debut with MIUI 13.
03:15 pm (IST): A recent report has highlighted what appears to be leaked screenshots of an early MIUI 13 build with the new widgets that are clearly inspired by iOS.
12:02 pm (IST): A new video on YouTube apparently shows the steps to download and install an alledged MIUI 13 launcher on any Xiaomi phone. Check it out below:
02:45 pm (IST): Leaker Digital Chat Station revealed some of the changes that MIUI 13 closed beta brings. He says that we will have big changes to system interface. Also, MIUI 13 will base both Android 12 and Android 11.
06:55 pm (IST): Lei Jun has confirmed that MIUI 13 will arrive later this year.
The Chinese version of MIUI is always released first, while the global version usually arrives weeks later. Therefore, it is possible that MIUI 13 global will arrive in 2022, but this has yet to be confirmed.
10:35 am (IST): Xiaomi’s GM, Lu Weibing, has teased a few details on the upcoming MIUI 13. MIUI 13 has been said to go official before the end of 2021.

05:37 pm (IST): MIUI 13 has integrated the apps ‘Xiaomi Wear’ and ‘Health’ into one. The new Xiaomi Health app received a redesign, in addition to being able to manage your wearables.
The app will also allow you to consult the physical activity data registered by the wearables. Finally, it will also integrate some additional MIUI functions (yet to be known).
05:55 pm (IST): The MIUI 13 is said to include many new features including a new smart toolbox integrating video, gaming, notes, and other functions. These features will be optimized to function quickly and seamlessly.

These builds are expected to roll out as from January, at least according to these reports.
10:37 am (IST): A day after we got an extensive list of Xiaomi devices set to soon get updated to MIUI 13, now it is coming to light that the MIUI 13 build for the Redmi Note 8 is already in its internal Beta stage.
This could mean that MIUI 13 is definitely on the cards for this Redmi Note 8. However, it is still based on Android 11.
09:49 am (IST): New info now suggests that we will see MIUI 13 debut with the launch of the Xiaomi 12 that is slated for December 28.
05:20 pm (IST): MIUI 13 will be unveiled tomorrow, but we already got a leaked screenshot of Mi Pad 5 Pro running MIUI 13 based on Android 11.
This reveals that the MIUI 13 will bring new multi-window features. Moreover, it also confirms that Mi Pad 5 Pro will get an Android 11 based MIUI 13 update and not the Android 12.
